Placing a mobile home follows the national building code (RJUE, Decree-Law 555/99) and each council's master plan (PDM) — Torres Vedras, Caldas da Rainha, Peniche, Óbidos, Lourinhã and Bombarral set different rules for urban land, rural land, ecological reserve (REN) and the coastal strip, where the Alcobaça–Cabo Espichel coastal programme also applies. On licensed campsites the unit is one of the park's complementary accommodation installations (Portaria 1320/2008, article 19), to be confirmed with the campsite; short-term rentals are governed by Decree-Law 128/2014.
