What to check on a used IRM

Identify the exact model and year first: the maker's serial plate and the original invoice tell a Super Mercure from the 2000s apart from a current model, and a rental version from a residential one.

A home from the rental range has often seen intensive use on a campsite; the residential range puts more into floor area, storage and finishes designed for an owner.

On an older model, check the chassis (corrosion on the side members), the floor (soft spots near the shower room and the doors), the roof and the window seals, then the gas installation and the water heater.

If you plan to use it out of season, check the insulation, double glazing and type of heating: that is where a recent model differs most from one built in the 2000s.
