There are two ways to buy a used static caravan in Europe: already sited on a holiday park pitch, or off-site and delivered to land you choose. Green Village sells off-site: 485 used static caravans, mobile homes and lodges are in stock from £6,450 (median £33,750), sourced in Netherlands, United Kingdom and France and delivered by Mobile Home Logistic, our logistics division, to your own plot or park in Portugal, Spain, France and other European destinations — see delivery country by country. Every listing shows photos, size, bedrooms and a price: listed prices are delivered prices for the UK, in pounds, and any other destination is quoted with the delivery address.

Static caravan, park home or lodge? A static caravan (holiday home) is usually built to EN 1647, the European standard for seasonal holiday use; UK holiday homes run from about 28 × 10 ft to 43 × 14 ft, and the larger, better-finished ones are sold as lodges. A residential park home is built to BS 3632, the British residential standard first published by the British Standards Institution in 1963, for 12-month use subject to the site licence. A lodge can be built to either standard, so check it first if you plan to live in the home all year. Static caravan, park home or lodge — which to choose compares them in full, and the FAQ below sets out when a twin-unit lodge or park home still counts as a caravan in Great Britain.

Buying a unit that comes from the UK for Spain or Portugal? A UK-origin unit enters the EU free of customs duty only with proof of UK origin under the EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement — without it, duty applies — while units already inside the EU move without customs duty, and the destination country's VAT applies (Spain's general rate is 21 %, Ley 37/1992, art. 90). Green Village holds EU customs registration EORI PT518231585 and delivers to the plot; the cost to import a static caravan from the UK is broken down in its own guide, and planning rules country by country explains where a home may stand. Before you commit, check the park's age-limit policy if the unit will stand on a park and, for a BS 3632 park home, ask for the Manufacturers Declaration of Compliance certificate; the used mobile home inspection checklist covers the rest.

Brands in used stock change as units sell: the most frequent today are Willerby, Atlas, ABI, IRM and Sunseeker, with British-built makes sourced in the UK alongside continental makes, and all brands in stock keeps the live list. Mobile homes can be seen at our showrooms in Maia (Portugal, main store), Ribeirinha (Azores, Portugal), Vigo (Spain, Tuesday to Saturday) and La Séguinière (France, by appointment), plus Jundiaí in Brazil; whether a particular used unit can be viewed depends on where it is, so ask via its listing. Buying for Portugal or Spain? See mobile homes delivered in Portugal and mobile homes delivered in Spain; on a tighter budget, browse cheap mobile homes, or compare with new mobile homes. Green Village has operated since 2023 and delivers 200+ homes a year — rated 4.7/5 from 386 Google reviews.

FAQ

Where can I buy a used static caravan in Europe?
Used static caravans and mobile homes are sold either already sited on a campsite or park pitch, or without a plot; in the UK they usually go through the parks or the manufacturers' authorised dealers. On a UK park you own the caravan but hold the pitch on a long lease from the park owner, so pitch and site fees are likely to be the main outlay, and many parks close for one to four months in winter. Green Village sells off-site: 485 used units from £6,450, delivered to your own plot or park, with transport organised by Mobile Home Logistic and included in the price.
Can I buy a used static caravan in the UK and import it into Spain or Portugal?
Yes. Green Village delivers used UK units to Spain and Portugal: transport is organised by Mobile Home Logistic, Green Village's logistics division, and any import duty is already included in the delivered price. The destination country's VAT then applies: in Spain the general rate is 21 % (Ley 37/1992, art. 90), outside the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla (art. 3).
What is the difference between a static caravan, a park home and a lodge?
A static caravan (holiday home) is usually built to EN 1647 for seasonal use, a park home to the British residential standard BS 3632 for 12-month use subject to the site licence, and a lodge is a larger, better-finished unit built to either standard. For caravan site licensing in Great Britain each is a caravan if it can be moved from one place to another (Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960, s.29); a twin unit qualifies only with no more than two sections bolted or clamped together on site, still physically capable of being moved on public roads, within 20 m length (excluding the drawbar), 6.8 m width and 3.05 m internal height (Caravan Sites Act 1968, s.13).
Do you have used Sun Roller mobile homes?
Brands in used stock change as units sell, so check the live brand list on the catalogue's brands page before you enquire: a Sun Roller unit appears there only while one is in stock. Sun Roller began as a Spanish maker of mobile homes and caravans and, after almost thirty years in operation, was acquired by the Slovenian company Adria.
Is it worth buying a second hand static caravan?
It can be, if the unit suits how you will use it: check the build standard first (EN 1647 for seasonal use, BS 3632 for 12-month use subject to the site licence), and if it will stand on a park, read the park's written age-limit policy, often 10–15 years for caravans and sometimes longer for lodges. For a BS 3632 park home from a National Caravan Council member, ask for the Manufacturers Declaration of Compliance certificate issued when it was despatched to the park. Each Green Village listing shows photos, size and bedrooms, with the build year where we have it — ask via the listing when it is missing.
Can UK static caravans be legally placed on land in Portugal?
There is no rule specific to them. Since 1 October 2026 Portugal's planning code (RJUE) has no specific rule for mobile homes or modular homes: article 1-A was repealed by Decree-Law 108/2026, and any construction incorporated into the land with a permanent character, regardless of the construction system, is a building (art. 2). The works need a licence or prior communication depending on the zone (art. 4), save exemptions (art. 6), and living in it requires a communication to the council (arts. 62-A/62-B). The municipal council (câmara municipal) decides case by case, so request prior information (informação prévia, art. 14) before you buy; our guide to mobile home planning permission in Europe covers the other countries.
