This page covers static caravans, park homes and lodges from Scotland, including the Highlands, the islands and the west coast. Green Village sells used static caravans, mobile homes and lodges sourced in the UK as off-site units, so you buy the home itself, not a pitch on a park, and delivers them to your own plot or park in Portugal, Spain, France and other European destinations. Transport is organised by Mobile Home Logistic, Green Village's logistics division, and is included in the delivered price; customs clearance and delivery are handled by Green Village. The current used static caravans and lodges are listed on the used mobile homes page of the catalogue, each with photos and a price, and the delivered price for any destination outside the UK is quoted with your delivery address. Whether a specific unit can be viewed in person depends on where it is, so ask via its listing before you travel.
Regulations
For caravan site licensing, Scotland applies the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960, which extends to England, Wales and Scotland. Under section 29, a caravan is any structure designed or adapted for human habitation that can be moved from one place to another, whether towed or carried on a motor vehicle or trailer. Under section 13 of the Caravan Sites Act 1968, a twin-unit lodge or park home still counts as a caravan if it has no more than two separately built sections assembled on site with bolts, clamps or other devices, can be moved from one place to another once assembled, and stays within 20 metres in length (excluding the drawbar), 6.8 metres in width and 3.05 metres internal height; Scotland adopted those limits in 2019. Residential park homes are built to BS 3632, the British standard for 12-month use subject to the site licence, while holiday homes are usually built to EN 1647 for seasonal use. Check which standard a unit was built to before you buy it for year-round living.
Transport
Units bought in Scotland travel the same way as the rest of the British stock. Transport is organised by Mobile Home Logistic, Green Village's logistics division, and is included in the delivered price, with customs clearance and delivery to your plot or park handled by Green Village. On arrival in the EU the unit is cleared through customs. A UK-origin unit enters the EU free of customs duty only with proof of UK origin under the EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement; without that proof, duty applies, and the VAT of the destination country is charged in every case. Green Village holds EU customs registration EORI PT518231585, and manages every formality the import requires, from collection in Scotland to installation at destination.
Pricing
Static caravans, mobile homes and lodges in the catalogue start from £6,450, and every listing shows its own price. For delivery in the UK those are delivered prices in pounds; for any other destination the price is quoted with the delivery address, because transport and the destination country's VAT depend on where the home goes. Within the used stock, price follows size, number of bedrooms and the age of the unit, and the used mobile homes page breaks the live stock down by type of home and by number of bedrooms, so you can see where a Scottish unit sits before you ask for a quote. If you are weighing a used static caravan against a new one, the new mobile homes page lists the new units in stock, each with its own price and the same delivery terms.
Installation
Green Village delivers the unit to your own plot or park; where it may stand is decided by the planning rules of the destination, so check them before you buy. In Portugal, since 1 October 2026 the planning code (RJUE) has no specific rule for mobile homes: article 1-A was repealed by Decree-Law 108/2026, any construction incorporated into the land with a permanent character is a building (art. 2), and the municipal council decides case by case, so request prior information (informação prévia, art. 14) from the câmara municipal. In Spain, the Supreme Court held that mobile homes are assimilable to prefabricated houses for the urban-planning licence, under article 11.4.c of Real Decreto Legislativo 7/2015, and that a campsite's activity licence does not cover their installation (STS 1917/2024, de 5 de diciembre (ECLI:ES:TS:2024:6022)); the applicable planning rules decide each case. If you plan to live in the home all year, choose a unit built to BS 3632 rather than a seasonal EN 1647 holiday home.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Are static caravans from Scotland suitable for year-round living? +
- That depends on the build standard, not on the region: residential park homes are built to BS 3632 for 12-month use, subject to the site licence, while holiday homes are usually built to EN 1647 for seasonal use. Check the standard on the unit's paperwork before you buy.
- Can a used static caravan from Scotland be delivered to Spain or Portugal? +
- Yes. Delivery is organised by Mobile Home Logistic and included in the delivered price, to your own plot or park. With proof of UK origin the unit enters the EU without customs duty under the EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, otherwise duty is due, and the destination country's VAT is always charged.
