Bought on video, without visiting the store: Odílio’s home in Caldas da Rainha

By Matheus Agueda · 3 November 2026

In short: on 14 May 2026 we delivered a used 1999 mobile home from England, with two bedrooms and about 40 m², to Odílio on a hilltop plot in Caldas da Rainha, in Portugal’s Oeste region. Odílio chose it on videos and photos, without visiting the store: he had been following Green Village online for a long time. He had prepared a thin concrete base and bought the stabilisers the home was set down on. The delivery was streamed live on Green Village’s YouTube channel.

How Odílio chose the home

Odílio had been following Green Village online for a long time. When he decided to buy, he trusted us enough not to visit the store at all: he chose the home on import, from real videos and photos of it in England, as Matheus Agueda, Green Village’s founder, said during the live stream of the delivery.

During the stream, Matheus used this home as an example of how long a mobile home can last: it has more than 20 years of use behind it and is in excellent condition, because it was maintained.

Transport to the plot was organised by Mobile Home Logistic, the partner logistics company of the same group, insured to 100 % and included in the price.

Delivery day

The morning of 14 May 2026 was cloudy and windy in Caldas da Rainha. Odílio’s plot sits on high ground with a wide view over the area, and the base was already in place on the right-hand side of the plot. As the home approached its place, Odílio carefully measured the exact spot where he wanted it. The team turned the home to face the side he had chosen and set it down on the stabilisers, on top of the base.

Green Village had three deliveries that day, and Matheus went on from Caldas da Rainha to the next one.

Under the cream mobile home: a metal stabiliser with two braces, standing on the concrete base, with a concrete block on the right
Under the home: one of the stabilisers Odílio bought, on the thin concrete base he prepared.

The base and the stabilisers

The base Odílio prepared is thin: it is only there so the home sits level. Instead of blocks, he bought metal stabilisers, and the home was set down on them. Blocks or stabilisers, the choice is the buyer’s.

During the stream, Matheus gave three recommendations for anyone preparing a plot:

  • keep the home at least 50 cm off the ground;
  • close off the underside with insulating material, to insulate the home and keep animals out;
  • on a high plot exposed to the wind, like this one, anchor the home to the base, with pins in the concrete and straps fixed to the chassis.

The connections

Water and electricity were already on the plot. The home’s plumbing comes ready: connecting it to the plot means joining the two waste pipes to the mains sewer or a septic tank, the water hose to the home, and the home’s plug to a socket. Those connections stay with Odílio.

What stayed with the client

Green Village does not install homes: the mobile home is delivered and set down on its supports, without levelling. These always stay with the buyer:

  • the base and the levelling — here, the thin concrete base and the stabilisers Odílio prepared;
  • the water, waste, gas and electricity connections;
  • any licences the municipality requires for the plot. During the stream, Matheus reminded viewers to always check with the municipality what it requires before putting a home on a plot.

What this delivery teaches

  1. You can buy without visiting the store. Odílio chose the home on real videos and photos of it in England.
  2. Prepare the base before the day. A thin concrete base, just for levelling, was enough to take the home.
  3. Blocks or stabilisers: your choice. Odílio went for stabilisers.
  4. On high ground, anchor the home. Pins in the base and straps on the chassis hold the home against the wind.
  5. Know what warranty the home has. A used home carries an 18-month legal guarantee, with no commercial warranty; a new home has the 3-year legal guarantee and a 10-year commercial warranty on the structure and against water ingress.

Other deliveries

Nearby, in August 2025, a used Atlas Mirage went over a high wall onto Márcio’s plot in Óbidos, and six days after this delivery a Willerby Salisbury chosen on photos and videos reached Santiago do Cacém, for Fernando. The used mobile homes in stock are delivered in mainland Portugal from €12,550, and what to know before buying in the region is in the guide to mobile homes in the Oeste region. Photos of other deliveries, from origin to plot, are in the gallery.
